BEHIND THE NAME
In Fonte Italy, the original Zuccolotto farmhouse sits
In a field of what once was a traditional Italian farm. The Zuccolotto family own the property until 3 years ago. Just over 100 years ago, Eugene Zuccolotto was born. The last of three generations to be born in the farmhouse, Eugene Zuccolotto was the second oldest of four brothers and the only brother to leave Italy. With a natural gift in woodwork, he studied to be a carriage maker, working out of a small workshop on the border of Fonte and Crespano Del Grappa.
In the town of Crespano Del Grappa lived the Favero”s, close family friends and the future relatives of the Zuccolottos. The Favero family owned a tobacco shop in the small town of Crepsano, which is still open and running to this day. Eugene Zuccolotto left Fonte for America to take a job in New York city as a carriage maker. After Eugene Zuccolotto arrived in New York City, already late in his twenties, he married Theresa Ferranto who’s mother was a Favero. They had three boys and one daughter in their marriage, the youngest son being David Zuccolotto.
David Zuccolotto is the grandfather to Chiara Zuccolotto and Ariana Zuccolotto, making both Chiara and Ariana third generation Italians to be born in the USA and part of only a few family members to still work with horses across the many branches of the Zuccolotto family tree.
Zuccolotto Designs is a proud continuation of the Zuccolotto legacy and its equestrian back round.
